Peng did both his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the University of Auckland. He graduated with a PhD in Bioengineering in 2012 and joined the STRATUS Committee shortly after. During his PhD work, he also worked as Teaching Assistant at the Department of Engineering Science and also served on the Postgraduate Student Association (PGSA) Board between 2011 and 2012. Peng’s research interest is in gastrointestinal electrophysiology. He aims to employ a joint experimental and mathematical modelling approach to understand the bioelectrical activity that coordinates gastrointestinal motility. He is currently sponsored by the Royal Society of New Zealand to conduct research on the potential application of a non-invasive diagnostic method called electrogastrography and the rapid electrophysiological transition in the stomach.
