Giovanni has joined the Department of Computer Science in March 2012 as a Lecturer. His main research areas are cyber security and privacy. He received his PhD from the Technology University of Eindhoven where he developed a self-adaptable distributed system for component-based applications. In 2006, Giovanni moved to Imperial College, London, where he worked on policy-based systems and developed trust-based security mechanisms (in collaboration with the University of Cambridge). In 2009 he moved to Italy, where he worked as the leader of the security group at Createnet. He has collaborated in several EU-funded FP7 projects collaborating with industrial partners, such as BAE Systems, HP, and Microsoft. Giovanni is currently working on extending the security mechanism of Android devices and creating advanced crypto-mechanisms for supporting privacy in cloud-based solutions.
